Introduction:
Key Performance indicator app provides performance measurement capability to an
organisation. A good KPI will help you and your team to understand whether you’re
going in a right direction to achieve your predetermined. We have defined certain KPIs
for Highways are:
Highways KPIs
- Incident Reporting: This can be improved by the mutual contribution by
emergency responders including the police, ambulance, fire and rescue services.
- Accident frequency Rate: A reduction in the accident frequency rate will be
a
result of improvement in the traffic control monitoring & management systems,
better road infrastructure, advanced vehicle technology, public awareness etc.
- Traffic Network Flow: If the network availability falls this could result
in an
increased number of incidents. Effective maintenance of the network
infrastructure is therefore the requirement to reduced accident numbers.
- KSI (Killed and Seriously Injured): This defines the severity of the
casualty in
road traffic accidents validated by DOT (Department for Transportation). This
parameter will be a key factor for improvements in vehicle technology and
medical advancements.
- Average Speed: An increase in speed may increase severity of any injuries.
Increasing average speeds will reflect a network where the road quality is being
improved and effects of congestion generally avoided. In addition to network
quality, capacity or roadworks – weather, traffic growth, speed limit compliance,
social changes, and increased proportion of heavy goods vehicles on the road
are some other factors responsible for increasing average speed.
